A movement that essentially belongs to the new era, initiated with the resolute purpose of cohesion an aim to bring together all experties and direct it in utility towards achieving all that was left to be achieved in the Punjabi Television Industry.

In January 2006, an army of enterprising professional envisioned the need for a flagship in the T.V Industry. Like minded people were invited, strategies were drawn goals were debated, memberships were intiated..... The World Punjabi Television/Radio Academy (WPTRA) was born with a defined purpose and focused aims.

The Punjabi TV Industry howing like never before. Money is pouring in Talent is flourishing. But flourishing unrecognized. Unsung. First Punjabi Channel was launched in 1979 there is not a single Awards to "honor" the Punjabi TV "Artist"

Recognizing this lacuna, World Punjabi Television/Radio Academy come in January 2006 to launch India first Awards for Excellence in Punjabi TV - The World Punjabi Television/Radio Academy (WPTRA).

World Punjabi Television/Radio Academy promoted by prominent media personality of Punjab. Prof Kulbir Singh was set up to nurture and promote all acitivities pertaining to the World of Punjabi Television and Radio.
